The cameras are able to accurately detect facial features and players’ movements, i.e. by moving the upper body, hands, arms and head in front of the camera will allow new games to be played by movement alone, bringing a whole new way of interacting with the handheld. The DSi also includes connectivity with an online store as well as internal and external storage of content. A pink LED light glows when the outer camera is active. The outer casing also abandons the vertical square DS logo modeled in the plastic found on the DS Lite.
The console has two larger TFT-LCD screens at 3.25 inches, instead of the former 3 inches, capable of displaying 260,000 colors. The lower display of the console is overlaid with a touchscreen, designed to accept input from the included stylus attached to the optional wrist strap. Also on the front are the four face buttons, the directional pad, and the Start, Select, and Power buttons. The DSi has five brightness settings compared to the DS Lite which had only four.
