Virtua Tennis 2009 is a video game developed by Sumo Digital and published by Sega in 2009. It is part of the Virtua Tennis series, following Virtua Tennis 3.
Virtua Tennis 2009 allows gamers to take on the world's top tennis players. They can take on the likes of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer or can play as Maria Sharapova against Venus Williams to recreate some classic court battles. Over 40 vibrant court environments will be playable within single player, multiplayer and online modes. The list of Court Games has also been updated for Virtua Tennis 2009, meaning the return of old Virtua Tennis favorites, some revamped classics, and five new games.

In this gameplay, players have full control over facial, body, and clothing customization as well as the depth to populate the game world with 100’s of unknown opponents. This game offers a basic set of online modes and also allows competing in 12 minigames, 5 completely new, for either single or multiplayer action where players can upload their hi-scores onto the worldwide rankings in games such as Zoo Feeder and Pirate War. Fan favorites return alongside each other in completely new minigames, ensuring the tradition is carried on into this new iteration of the series.
